Personal History

Joseph Freire moved to Central Florida from Ohio in 1974 and graduated from a local public high school in 1979. As a high school senior was accepted into and participant in the Executive Internship Program with the City of Orlando, Public Safety. 

He was accepted to the Tallahassee training academy for the Florida Highway Patrol and worked as a State Trooper – accident investigator until transferring to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, as Executive Officer in the Court Services Section.

Education

He attended and graduated from UCF (‘90) and then law school at St. Thomas University in Miami, FL (‘94). While in law school was involved in moot court trial practice and interned with the Broward County Public Defender’s Office in Ft. Lauderdale, FL.

Experience

Upon being admitted to The Florida Bar in 1994, Mr. Freire has worked as a trial attorney with the Orange County Public Defender’s Office and in 1999 joined Mr. Shapiro in the practice of personal injury law.
